Our Story

Our unusual story begins in a humble fisherman’s village on the Arabian coast of Kerala, South India; where an Australian girl Billy, meets an Indian boy Max, with Mallu spice running through his veins.

Cooking his way to her heart, together they ran a beach side restaurant on the cliff tops of Varkala, serving fresh fish and village style cuisine, attracting guests from around the globe.  Leaving this little spot of paradise was hard, but Billy's mountain home was calling.

Missing the dishes of Max’s birthplace, Babaji’s Kerala Kitchen was destined to be born. From establishing themselves at festivals and markets across Victoria to eventually opening their first restaurant in Puffing Billy’s hometown, Belgrave and now their second restaurant in picturesque Warburton.

Babajis prides itself on bringing people together with great food and South Indian hospitality, (no matter what cricket team you follow!)
