Did you know the closest snow to Melbourne is in Warburton on Mount Donna Buang just behind us, Babajis Warburton.
Just 75km from the city, the snow at Mount Donna, at the national park is free to enjoy.
Stop by Babajis Warburton on your way to the mountain, hire a Babajis toboggan and hit the slopes!
Join in for lunch or dinner after your snow adventure by our open fires and we'll refund your toboggan hire.
Bookings recommended. Walk-ins welcome.
Remember to check Babajis Warburton's Instagram stories to see that it is snowing before making the trek.
Terms & Condtions of Babajis toboggan hire
Babajis Toboggan hire - $20 - and a $20 deposit.
If staying for lunch / dinner - the hire fee will be deducted from your bill.
Toboggans to be returned in our opening hours.
Deposits will not be returned if toboggan is broken .
SNOW SAFETY
There is no charge to visit Mount Donna Buang ... and as such, it can be very busy on the mountain.
Whilst there is no requirement to have snow chains (and no place in Warburton to hire snow chains) - the road can be dangerous and can also be closed. You can check Mountain Tucker coffee van who kindly updates everyone on the situation up the top (say thanks and get yourself a coffee from the boys). The closest place to hire snow chains is in Heathmont at EMC Ajays.
Please be respectful of our mountain and do not put yourself and our first responders (Volunter CFA, Volunteer SES, Police, Ambos) at risk.
At the minimum - for yours and everyones safety - you MUST have an SUV to drive up the mountain.
On snow weekends - you can expect heavy traffic with people who have never driven in snowy conditions before. Drive to the conditions and know your comfort zone. The usual 15 minute drive can easily be 60 + minutes.
There is no mobile phone reception.
Also remember, dress warm and throw some woolen blankets in the car - especially for kids and the elderly - just in case.
