Fish Cart Sundays at Babaji's Yarra Valley

It's Spring 2026 and we've bought our famous fish cart back!

Fresh fish piled high, hand selected from the market by us...marinated in spices and cooked 'live' on the tava.

Choose your favourite, treat yourself to some toddy and enjoy Sunday afternoon!

Fish cart Sundays are every Sunday from 12pm until sold out. Bookings strongly recommended.

Three places to visit after lunch at Babaji's !

1.Warburton is home to one of Victoria's most magical forests - the Redwood Forest. Wander around these tall trees, paddle in the creek, it's free to visit.

2.Head up to Mount Donna Buang for amazing surrounding views of the Great Dividing Range. In winter - keep an eye on our socials for updated snow reports and stop in at Babajis to hire a toboggan before you head up the mountain!

3. Feel like you're in looking in on another world, perhaps even prehistoric times. Visit Warburton's rainforest gallery - walk across the glass platform. Below you - awe at the fragile rainforest ecosystem.

What Makes Kerala Food Different to other Indian food?

Kerala is a tropical state on India's south-west coast, famous for it's coconut palms, spice plantations, seafood and warm hospitality.

Our cuisine is lighter and brighter than many Australians expect from Indian food, with dishes featuring curry leaves, coconut, black pepper, tamarind and fresh herbs.

Our chefs have learnt to cook from our ancestors. Knowledge of spice passed down through the generations.

And even today - we cook just like we would in a home kitchen.

No shortcuts and always with fresh ingredients.

Kerala Sadya

A dish that truly showcases the uniqueness and diversity of Kerala’s cuisine. On your banana leaf, 13 vegetarian dishes, each with their own flavours. Experience thousands of years of history and wisdom, with Ayurvedic principles at its heart. Only served Fridays-Sundays.

Kerala Beef curry & Malabar parotta

Perhaps Kerala's most iconic dish. Tender beef slow-cooked with roasted spices and served alongside flaky hand-stretched Malabar parotta.

Kerala fish curry & matta rice

Using the freshest fish we can find at the market, with tamarind, chillis, tomato & ground coconut served with plump traditional red matta rice.

Kappa and Mutton Curry

A true Kerala classic featuring smashed tapioca infused with coconut & curry leaves and our rich slow cooked mutton (goat) village style curry.

Dosa

South India's famous fermented rice and lentil crêpes, served with sambar and chutneys. We pack ours with all your favourite Babajis curries.
